Partnering with NTNU to Understand Natural Disaster

World of Wild Waters (WoWW) is a tool developed in collaboration with the geography department at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). NTNU’s research is focused on analyzing and understanding cause and effect of natural disasters such as floods and landslides.

In a world facing increasingly extreme weather, World of Wild Waters uses science and immersive technology to help people understand how climate-related natural hazards can affect our communities. By transforming real flood data into a virtual reality experience, users are placed inside a realistic flood scenario and can feel how a flood unfolds and why preparation matters.

Gamified Learning Through Realistic Disaster Scenarios

WoWW gamifies natural hazards and brings together knowledge on physical and statistical data of human behaviors, using digital storytelling and immersive experiences based on real data and realistic scenarios.

Enhancing Preparedness Through Immersive Learning

Rather than learning about risk in a technical and distant way, this approach creates an embodied and visceral understanding, bridging the gap between experts and everyday people and supporting more informed and adaptive decision-making.
